Job Description

The Senior Marketing Manager: External Marketing is responsible for ensuring the 7-Eleven brand is top of mind and relevant to current and potential customers by developing integrated advertising campaigns through owned, paid, earned and ecommerce channels.

This role is also responsible for sharing results and insights with the data, content, and creative teams to ensure effective creative and a superior customer experience through conversion and referral outcomes.


To lead, coach and develop direct reports in delivering a Slurptacular experience to 7-eleven customers and Canadians, including brand visibility, relevant content and creative to drive traffic, orders, sales, and referral.


Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Director of marketing, communications and digital, lead the external communications team responsible for media, digital and social advertising, PR & influencer campaigns, instore communications, and ecommerce channels.
  • Influence and execute strategy for media, digital, social, ecommerce, PR, influencer, and instore communications.
  • Influence / collaborate with brand and agency teams to ensure appropriate content to support effective communication and conversion by media channel and specs.
  • Lead the media integration strategy and planning to achieve effective targeting and retention of existing customers and to attract new customers.
  • Lead the campaign integration planning to ensure effective and appropriate communication by campaign.
  • Lead the effectiveness and development of owned, earned and paid channel content, ultimately leading to recommend/referral.
  • Lead the ecommerce platform communication to drive sales and orders – including delivery platforms, Speakout wireless, social commerce, etc.
  • Lead and share AAR results, including insights and pivots on a timely and continual cadence.
  • Collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders on team canada and US marketing / digital teams.
  • Plan, recommend and manage budget spend of the group within approved levels.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's/4-year degree in marketing
  • Years of relevant experience: 5+ years integrated marketing, advertising, digital marketing, ecommerce required.
  • Experience in retail, QSR, CPG and Franchise and/or DSD organization preferred.
  • Proficiency and demonstrated results with developing successful integrated campaigns, media and digital campaigns, ecommerce performance and analytics.
  • Able to create structure and process where it currently does not exist. Strong entrepreneurial acumen.
  • Able to quickly assess an opportunity with incomplete data, frame a strategy, business case, and action plan; then drive a team to execute in market.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to lead presentations with executives
  • Ability to lead and influence others
  • Ability to solve problems both independently and as part of a team through a structured approach
  • Personal integrity, humility, an appreciation for the power of true teamwork, and a sense of humor
  • Self-starter personality who can operate with minimal supervision


ADDITIONAL DETAILS - Skills/ Travel Requirements

Reading – Excellent proof-reading skills required to ensure accuracy and approval of creative, media plans, agency statement of work, understand written directions from manager.

Writing – Ability to prepare executive summaries, business plans, insights, and strategies up to executive level, as well as oversee playbooks and plans to field ops, brief agencies and cross functional teams.

Math – Basic mathematical skills required for data analysis, project, and budget tracking.

Computer – SharePoint, Teams, file sharing, media platforms, CMS, Magento Ecommerce, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

Equipment – Use of general office equipment

Travel – Travel required from time to time across canada and to the US.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

No demand for physical exertion is required.

On an ongoing basis, ensures understanding of customer and potential customers through ongoing data and insight mining through internal and industry data. Bring innovative and relevant channels and campaigns to meet business objectives.

DECISION MAKING/PROBLEM SOLVING/IMPACT:

Decisions regularly required in creating and developing campaigns, supporting content and managing direct reports and budgets. Problem solving skills required to support direct reports and cross functional stakeholders to support key business objectives, operational challenges and ad hoc urgent issues as required.
